Today, I ran across 3 cool Parker Posey sitings on the Internet— And one of them was an actual Parker Posey siting! So I decided to put them all in one post, rather than in 3 separate posts.
Firstly, a classic article by Heather Loftiss, written in July 2006, about the best and worst commercials of the first half of 2006. One of the best commercials was the Pepsi ad, featuring Jimmy Fallon dancing with Parker Posey. If you’ve never seen the ad (or can’t remember it), here it is:
Heather notes:
This ad came out at the very start of 2006 and features the song Streamline by Newton. The ad was done by the same guys who did the FedEx caveman commercial. There’s no dialogue. All they do is dance. So why is it a great commercial? They cast the right people, they used the right song, and Pepsi plastered it everywhere. The song became a hit in pop culture almost immediately. Critics of the commercial simply dislike Jimmy Fallon and are immediately turned off by his humor. They do not see the straightforward advertising methods used.
Do you know the test to see if a commercial is really doing its job? When you see people walking down the street whistling the tune that’s featured in the ad.
Uh, well as a business-guy, I disagree with that last part. You know an ad is doing its job when people start buying your product. But you know that Parker Posey is cool when people start walking down the street whistling the tune she was dancing to.
Next, I visited couple who saw Parker Posey at a local theatre last night, where Parker Posey’s new movie Broken English was playing… Both Parker Posey and Zoe Cassavetes were there to answer questions.
After the discussion, we went up and chatted with Parker for a while. It was lots of fun. And she let Diana take a photo of us! Click to enlarge the classic fan photo: fan (me) all bright-eyed and alert, movie star ready to fall asleep (she admitted as much, several times, in a friendly way).
(Check out his post to see the photo.)
Finally, Gregory from Glögg (“Gregory’s Lovable Önline Gabble Gulag”), echoes my thoughts, when I watched Fay Grim.
Friday morning may zoom along swiftly, but I did catch Broken English and would like to make some mention of that here. How have I missed Parker Posey until now? She’s an actress, but she’s actually really good!
